Planning and Zoning

Meetings

The Planning and Zoning Commission (P&Z) meets on the first Monday of every month.

Purpose

The planning and zoning commission shall have all the rights, powers, privileges and authority authorized and granted by and through the statues of the state authorizing and granting cities the power of zoning as found in V.T.C.A., Local Government Code section 211.007. (Ordinance 2002-27, sec. 5)

Members

The Mayor shall appoint members of the Planning and Zoning Commission, and each person so appointed must be approved by the City Council before becoming a member of the commission.The members shall be residents and qualified voters of the city. (Planning & Zoning Commission Ordinance No. 2002-27. sec. 1)

Term Length

Five (5) members are appointed by the Mayor and approved by City Council to serve three-year staggered terms. The Mayor and City Manager shall be ex officio members of the planning and zoning commission and may participate in all meetings of the commission without voting rights. (Ordinance 2002-27, sec. 3)
